New England Merino Sire Evaluation Field Day

The New England Merino Sire Evaluation Association committee invites merino breeders and sheep industry service providers to attend the inspection of 500 2016 drop progeny from 16 merino and poll merino sires. Sire groups will be individually penned with visual and objective assessment data, FBVs and ASBVs displayed.

The Field Day will also include presentations from industry experts addressing pertinent topics. Richard Taylor, Director of MH Premium Farms, will answer the question “Why Merinos in Corporate Agriculture”, Ben Swain from AMSEA will highlight results from a recent trial of historical sires showing what the Merino has achieved in 25 years. Also featuring will be an update on Barbavax by Fiona MaCarthur and an update on the AWI-funded Merino Lifetime Productivity (MLP) Project from Duncan Lance, NEMSEA Chairman.
